The Wild Asparagus Hunters are Out and About

It´s that time of year. Cars parked in odd places, the solitary person - usually a man, popping up above a bank or from behind an olive tree. The hunters of the wild aparagus are here. The plentiful rain scattered with a day or two of sunshine has brought them out in droves. Some have their route, others instinctively know where to go. They appear, walking back to their cars, with a huge bundle of foot long green spears of asparagus. And off they go, probably not to be seen for another year - or another week if the rain continues. No matter how hard the shoots try and hide the older men hunt them down with stick in hand, to fob off the spiky old growth, and uncover the tender new stems of wild asparagus. Four Great Glamping Sites in Spain

With a fabulous climate, especially in the south and the islands, where better to find great glamping sites than in Spain. Over 300 days of sunshine a year (in the south) promises fine weather and some of the wildest, most remote and natural spaces you can imagine.

So with that in mind and with a love of the outdoors I've brought together a list of gorgeous back to nature spots for your perusal. I did a bit of camping in my time but now at quite a bit more than half a century I prefer more comfort, and not to sleep down on the floor,  these glamping sites definitely offer that.

So let's head down to the western province of Cadiz in Andalucia, inland from the Costa del  Sol in Malaga province, over to the eastern Mediterranean coast and Alicante then fly over to the Canary Islands and Lanzarote for a bit of glamorous camping - also known as glamping.

Dehesa de las Yeguas offers safari tent style glamping in the province of Cadiz. Dehesa de las Yeguas means pasture for horses, especially mares, which conjures up lots of space and you'll probably see horses riding past your front porch.

There are four fabulously designed and decorated tents to rent or a larger family farmhouse with lots of activities on site and plenty to do and visit nearby in this beautiful Natural Park in Cadiz province.
