The Wild Asparagus Hunters are Out and About

It´s that time of year. Cars parked in odd places, the solitary person - usually a man, popping up above a bank or from behind an olive tree. The hunters of the wild aparagus are here. The plentiful rain scattered with a day or two of sunshine has brought them out in droves. Some have their route, others instinctively know where to go. Lanjaron, Las Alpujarras - La Casa del Viento

Casa Viento

On a horse riding reccy trip to Lanjaron we stayed at the lovely La Casa del Viento (house of the wind) for the night. Being high above Lanjaron we had some great views and a welcome breeze.

La Casa del Viento consists of various size and shaped rustic apartments all of which are delightfully furnished and cared for by the live-in owner Anne. Anne is there to welcome guests and provides dinner and Sunday lunches around the pool.

Almost on the GR7 walking route, Lanjaron is a great base for walking, horse riding and exploring Las Alpujarras.

With a unique history and special location, on the southern slopes of the Sierra Nevada mountain range, Las Alpujarras offer dramatic scenery, diverse wildlife and a step-back-in-time relaxed pace of life.
